Regeneration of existing building stock makes good economic sense. As regeneration architects know, both modern and historical buildings benefit.
2 Branch Road, Armley, Leeds
Located on the fork of Branch Road and Stanningley Road in Armley, this former listed Grade II Methodist Chapel is a key building to the Township Heritage Initiative for the area. Now used commercially as a carpet warehouse the Heritage Lottery grant for the building allowed the Landlord to use the deficit grant contribution to reinstate the dilapidated cupola, stained glass feature windows and roof coverings to make it watertight once again.
“internally there was evidence of damp to areas from failed guttering”
The Wapentake - 92 Kirkgate, Leeds
Awarded commendation at Leeds Architectural Awards 2017, this property has been brought back to life and is stimulating new commercial interest in one of the city's oldest streets. It is the first regeneration project in this historic area for the Township Heritage Initiative for Kirkgate.
Full historic renovation of the building for commercial use was undertaken. Careful stripping of paint from external walls, restoration of windows and fitting of a new slate roof covering has resulted in both a good investment for the Client and a characterful commercial property already well established within this up-and-coming historic area of the Leeds city centre.

“Arctic also have tremendous experience of work done in collaboration with other bodies which can often be a very complicated business. We were particularly pleased with the architectural award for this project which also got National heritage commendation.”
93 Kirkgate Leeds
Following the successful regeneration site of 92 Kirkgate, Leeds, Mood Developments acquired the neighbouring property no. 93 Kirkgate.
The development of the building is a catalyst for regenerating the area economically through leisure and tourism. It has provided the stimulus to inspire imaginative and high-quality design, influencing the character of the environment and defining the area’s sense of place within the centre of the city of Leeds.
“It has been very rewarding working with Arctic Associates over the last six years. One of the outstanding features is the very precise drawings and specifications which means the work is much simpler once the contractors are on site. ”
